Wow!  I love my iPad2, and it works so well for me, I can’t justify upgrading anytime soon.  However, it sounds like millions of other people couldn’t wait to get the New iPads in their hands this past weekend.

Information Weekly has the details:

Apple revealed late Monday that it sold more than three million iPads worldwide between Friday, March 16 and Monday, March 19. The new iPad went on sale in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold–the strongest iPad launch yet,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior VP of worldwide marketing. “Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.”

Three million new iPads in four days is no doubt impressive. Apple said that the new iPad had a record weekend, and now we have the numbers to back that claim up. AT&T also said that it saw a record number of new iPad activations on its network.

Did you or anyone you know grab the new iPad last week?

I must admit, I am pretty excited to see how this turns out.  Other than Lady Gaga and maybe Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Rihanna have ruled the charts over the past five years like nobody else.

From Seattle PI:

Katy Perry and Rihanna are in no rush to record a girl power duet – because they want to take their time on the project and release an “iconic” collaboration like “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves.”

The pop star pals have been open about their desire to tackle the charts together, but the “I Kissed A Girl” hitmaker has high hopes for the track and is keen to emulate the success of the Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin’s 1985 hit.

Speaking on Britain’s Radio 1, she says, “We’ve collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet. It’s one of those things that’s got so much build up that we have to deliver.

“I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves,’ not like (Shakira and Beyonce song) ‘Beautiful Liar.’

“But I definitely want to do something that is so iconic. (Rihanna’s) kind of busy too. We’re both busy but we planted the seed two years ago. How disappointed would you be if that song came out and it’s no good? Sometimes you have to wait for greatness.”

Are you looking forward to hearing the final product??

Pretty cool video explaining why it is so hard to say goodby to one of the all-time greats in Indianapolis:

Looks like today is one of the days we all need to keep an eye to the sky. Looks like one round of storms this morning, and a second, stronger line of storms likely this afternoon.  Currently a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 12 noon, but another watch for the afternoon hours looks like a real possibility.

Thankfully, we will be here along with NBC 2 to keep you up to date.  Make sure you follow me on Twitter or NBC-2’sAnne Elise Parks for updates throughout the day.
