Here is the latest from MSNBC:

Rumors have been swirling for some time, but the Associated Press is now reporting that comedian and actor Russell Brand and singer Katy Perry have filed for divorce.

The 36-year-old comedian told AP on Friday: “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

The couple wed Oct. 23, 2010, in a traditional Hindu ceremony near a tiger sanctuary.

I am pretty sure when they got married I said it wouldn’t last six months.  While they lasted a little more than 14 months, nobody is really surprised things didn’t work out.  To me, it is just another example of how hard it is for mega-celebrities to be able to co-exist in a relationship, let alone a marriage.

PS- Katy, if you need a hug, I am here for you.

D-Day Has Arrived

Posted: December 28, 2011 in Uncategorized

Today is the day I part with my 4 wisdom teeth.  Right after the show I head to surgery.  Obviously, since my job requires me to talk, I am going to have to take a couple days off.  Jim Osborn will fill in during the morning show, and Jamie Dawson fills in for Jim in the afternoon.  Big thanks to those two for helping me out.

If you need me, I’ll be home on the couch loving life on pain pills eating little pudding cups for dinner.

HOPEFULLY, I’ll be back Saturday, or Monday at the latest.  Once the meds wear off some, I will try to resume some blogging!

Kim Kardashian, you have NOTHING on Sinead O’Connor.  I mean if you have been married 4 times, and your latest lasts only 16 days, maybe you shouldn’t get married anymore???

From CBS News:

(CBS) The fourth time apparently wasn’t a charm for Sinead O’Connor. After just 16 days, she has decided to end her marriage to therapist Barry Herridge.

The pair got hitched in a Las Vegas ceremony on Dec. 8, but are now kaput. It was O’Connor’s fourth trip down the aisle.

“He [Herridge] has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage,” O’Connor explained.

The 45-year-old singer announced the news on her website this week. “I had for reasons u will all understand, wished to keep this private but have been told today it is to be leaked in the next few days despite my best efforts,” she wrote on Monday. “So I must now leak it myself so as the record is straight.”

O’Connor noted that she and Herridge parted amicably, blaming outside pressure as part of the reason for the split. They ended the relationship on Christmas Eve, only seven days after living together.

“From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me,” the Irish singer revealed.

“Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband’s life,” she added. “And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don’t drink. My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage. It became apparent to me that if he were to stay with me he would be losing too much to bear.”

She noted, “A woman wants to be a joy to her husband. So.. U love someone? Set them free.”

O’Connor had nice things to say about her ex, a 38-year-old therapist whom she met online. Earlier this year, O’Connor announced her search for a guy, revealing that she was looking for a “very sweet sex-starved man.”

“He is a wonderful man,” she wrote. “I love him very much. I’m sorry I’m not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren’t aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband’s life and the lives of those close to him.”

O’Connor has been married before — first to John Reynolds in 1989 and then to journalist Nicholas Sommerlad in 2002. Last April, she divorced her longtime collaborator Steve Cooney.

She will release her ninth studio album, “How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?” on Feb. 21

Lady Gaga SUED!

Posted: December 27, 2011 in Entertainment News

Is Gaga a bad boss?  One of her former employees is claiming she is, and has filed a huge lawsuit!

A former personal assistant to Lady Gaga is suing the pop star, claiming she’s owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in back pay, The New York Post reported Sunday.

Jennifer O’Neill, of Long Island, New York, was paid $75,000 a year to be at the beck and call of the world’s highest-grossing pop star. But in a lawsuit filed against Gaga’s Mermaid Touring Company in New York’s U.S. District Court last week, O’Neill says she’s still owed $380,000 for 7,168 hours of overtime that was never paid.

She’s also seeking other unspecified damages.

In the suit, O’Neill alleges she was required to be available to Gaga at all hours of the day and night during the singer’s blockbuster 2010 Monster Ball world tour. Gaga was allegedly so demanding, her assistant often had no time to eat or sleep.

O’Neill says her job included “ensuring the promptness of a towel following a shower and serving as a personal alarm clock to keep [Gaga] on schedule.”

She claims she had to cater to Gaga in “stadiums, private jets, fine hotel suites, yachts, ferries, trains and tour buses.”

Gaga, recently voted the Associated Press’ Entertainer of the Year, and her odd demands of employees were the subjects of the 2010 book Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga.

In the tome, another former personal assistant to Gaga — Angela Ciemny — reveals that she was required to frequently sleep with the songstress. The “Born This Way” hitmaker also required that they do their makeup together.

The girls sometimes even showered at the same time.

The singer also required a bizarre array of food, drinks, decorations and accessories in her dressing room, according to a contract obtained from her Monster Ball tour.

A spokeswoman for Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, calls O’Neill’s lawsuit “completely without merit.”

Hope you and the family had a great Christmas weekend!  Here is what you may or may not have missed!

Wedding bells are ringing for Matthew McConaughey and Bravo personality Camila Alves.

The Lincoln Lawyer actor popped the question to his Brazilian model girlfriend of five years on Christmas Day. He broke the news via Twitter and WhoSay, writing:

“just asked Camila to marry me, merry Christmas.”

Judging by the accompanying snapshot of the happy couple kissing in front of the Christmas tree, we assume she said yes.

Matthew began dating Camila — host of Bravo’s Shear Genius — in 2006.

They have two children together: a son Levi, 3, and a daughter, Vida, who turns two next month.

McConaughey, 42, broke out on the silver screen in the 1993 film Dazed and Confused. He’s starred as a leading man in several romantic comedies over the last decade.

The star was proclaimed the “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine in 2005.

Good luck to all 16 local teams involved in the tournament going on at Terre Haute North High School.
