VIDEO: Coldplay “Paradise”

One of our most requested songs this past couple of weeks has been “Paradise” from Coldplay.  One would think that the video for a song called “Paradise” might be set on a nice beach with a beautiful sunset going on.

Well, not so much when it comes to this video, but it is hard to not love a guy in an elephant costume riding a unicycle.

Enjoy!

This is great news, and I feel like we all owe this to Adele.

From Yahoo/AP:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — U.S. album sales rose more than 3 percent last year for the first gain since 2004 — a sign that rising digital sales are finally stemming the decade-long decline of compact discs.

The uptick to 458 million album sales was helped by the hugely popular sophomore album “21” from British singer Adele, which sold 5.8 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Huge interest in Adele also led to the sales of 856,000 copies of “19,” her debut album from 2008.

Michael Buble’s “Christmas,” which was released in late October, racked up 2.5 million album sales. Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” sold 2.1 million, boosted by a massive sale at Amazon.com earlier in the year for a heavily discounted 99 cents.

Digital album sales rose nearly 20 percent to 103 million, while CDs fell nearly 6 percent to 225 million.

The rest of the total is made up largely of digital single tracks, where 10 tracks are counted as one album. Digital singles sales rose nearly 9 percent to 1.27 billion.

The digital sales gains are likely here to stay, said Dave Bakula, senior vice president of analytics at Nielsen. He noted more consumers are using high-end mobile devices, and Google Inc. has launched its online music store, giving it a way to sell music to users of smartphones on its Android platform.

Sales of older albums rose nearly 9 percent to 151 million, thanks to heavy discounting, including a Father’s Day promotion at some big box retailers and iTunes that touted Journey’s greatest hits and the work of other older rock bands.

Hopefully, another artist puts out an album as great as “21” this year and 2012 shows another increase.

What albums did you buy in 2011??

Anyone remember when this was the hottest video ever made?

Is it me, or is this one of the catchiest songs of all time??  Also, Chevy Chase is awesome.

Adele is rather specific with this list, but one has to wonder if the smokes will get cut off the list after her recent vocal issues.  I do like the part about charity donations for comp tickets.  Here is the story from ContactMusic.com:

Marlboro Lights cigarettes and good quality European beer are among Adele’s tour rider requests.

Adele’s tour rider includes cigarettes and good quality European beer.

The ‘Someone Like You’ hitmaker recently had to cancel all of her remaining tour dates for 2011 to have surgery on a vocal chord haemorrhage, but a copy of her tour demands have been released which show alcohol and Marlboro Lights are essential for the singer.

Adele requested two bottles of the “very best quality red wine” and 12 bottles of “best quality European lager beer. ie Becks, Stella Artois, Peroni etc”.

In the document obtained by website The Smoking Gun, she added: “North American beer is NOT acceptable.”

Adele also asked for an assortment of chewing gum, a small plate of “freshly made, individually wrapped sandwiches which must NOT contain tomatoes, vinegar, chilli or citrus fruit”.

Following a concert, her tour bus must be stocked with “bite-size chocolate bars, including Twix, Aero, Milky Way, and Mars, organic muesli and six cereal bars”.

However, the 23-year-old singer also showed her charitable side insisting anyone who receives free concert tickets must make a donation of at least $20 to the organisation SANDS (Stillborn And Neonatal Death Charity).

The document states: “All guests at all Adele shows will be asked for a minimum donation to charity of $20 per person, in cash, when they collect their tickets. There will be no exception to this rule.

“We will also expect that all guests of the Promoter and/or Venue to also make the same donation when collecting their tickets.”

Good Morning!  This is a song we just added to the WBOW playlist this week.  It is featured on the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 soundtrack, and the video includes some scenes from the movie.

Thoughts on the song??
