On Sunday, 2001 Terre Haute North High School graduate Steve Weatherford became the first person from Terre Haute to win a NFL Super Bowl world championship as the punter for the New York Giants.   In the game Sunday, Steve set a NFL super bowl record for most punts inside the 10-yard line with 3.

After graduating from the University of Illinois, Steve began his NFL career in 2006 with the New Orleans Saints.  Since then, he has punted for the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the New York Jets.  He signed a one-year contract with the Giants this past July, and will be a free agent this off season.

The parade for Steve to recognize his NFL accomplishments will begin at 1:30pm on Friday at 7th & Wabash in downtown Terre Haute.  The route:

– 7th Street & Wabash downtown, heading east to Brown Avenue

– Brown Avenue east to Maple Avenue

– Maple Avenue north to Terre Haute North Vigo High School

A student pep rally will occur at Terre Haute North Vigo High School at the end of the parade.
